RICA reminds all importers of goods on the following:
1. All imported goods must comply with safety and quality standards
requirements
2. Certain types of imported goods must be accompanied with their respective
import permits and related quality/safety requirements mentioned in the
import permit;
3. The list of goods which require import permits before importation is found on RICA website
This updated list of 18/02/2025 includes new products that were not in the previous list, but most of the products are as well listed on the previous list. Major changes were made to the previous list to reduce the number of products requiring import permit. The list comprises of 14 items in four categories; Agriculture products, Chemical products, electrical and electromechanical materials, and Construction materials.
A. Agriculture products
1. Plants, plant products (unprocessed and
minimally processed), seeds and planting
materials
2. Soil and living organisms
3. Animal products (unprocessed and
minimally processed)
4. Animal feeds
B. Chemical products
5. Agrochemicals
6. Varnishes, paints, colours, solvents and
their raw materials.
7. Fuel additives
C. Electrical and electromechanical materials
8. Solar panels and solar home system
9. Protective helmets for motorcycles and
mopeds users
D. Construction materials
10. Cements of all types
11. Plastic pipes, plastic water tanks and
household plastics plus their raw
materials
12. Steel hollow sections (tubes)
13. Steel for the reinforcement of concrete
14. Steel sheets and coils
Notice
1. Import permit is applied for before placing an order to the
supplier
2. This list replaces the previous list that was issued on 24th
April 2024 and will be updated from time to time. Please,
bear checking the updated list from RICA website
